Choose a push broom for clearing large, open floors quickly; an angle broom for corners, edges, and tight spaces, where the angled bristles reach in; a lobby broom for quick one-handed touch-ups paired with a dustpan in front-of-house areas; and a corn broom for rugged, economical natural-fiber sweeping indoors or out. Many facilities keep more than one type for different tasks.
Flagged bristles are split at the tips so they fan out, which lets them capture more fine dust and particles per stroke. They're ideal for fine debris and finishing work on smooth surfaces. For heavy, coarse debris or rough outdoor surfaces, stiffer unflagged or natural-fiber bristles move material more aggressively.
Fine bristles (such as PVC fill) are designed for fine dust and debris on smooth, polished, or sealed floors. Medium bristles (durable polypropylene) handle mixed light-to-medium debris on both smooth and rough surfaces. Heavy bristles are built for coarse debris and rough or outdoor surfaces. Matching bristle weight to your debris and floor type is the key to efficient sweeping.
A push-to-center broom, like the Maximizer™, has angled sides that funnel debris toward the center of the head instead of letting it trail off the edges. That captures more debris per stroke and reduces the number of passes needed, saving time on large floors.
Natural corn fibers are economical and offer good all-purpose pickup on even or rough surfaces, indoors or out. Synthetic polypropylene bristles resist stains and odors, won't absorb water, and can be used wet or dry, making them more durable and hygienic for demanding commercial environments. Choose corn for rugged, low-cost sweeping and polypropylene where durability and moisture resistance matter.
RCP broom handles come with either a threaded tip, which screws securely into a threaded broom head (self-locking versions lock in place so the head won't spin off), or a tapered tip, which wedges into a tapered socket. Match the handle's tip style to your broom head, and note that 15/16" is the common handle diameter across most commercial brooms.
